Date: 17 September 2023

Pirates booked their spot in the second preliminary round after thrashing Djabal Club d'Iconi 4-0 on aggregate in the first round.

The Buccaneers had a narrow 1-0 away in Comoros in the first-leg and won the second-leg with a convincing 3-0 scoreline at home.

The Sea Robbers' last game before the FIFA break was a 2-1 win over Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg.

Galaxy, meanwhile, qualified for the second preliminary round after edging Vipers 3-2 on aggregate in the first preliminary round.

The Botswana champions beat the Ugandan side 2-0 at home and although they lost the second-leg 2-1, they progressed with a better aggregate score.

Galaxy have not played a competitive game since the two fixtures in the CAF Champions League, as their domestic season is yet to start since it ended in June.

The sides have met twice before, in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off round in the 2020/21 season, where the Buccaneers won 4-0 on aggregate.

The Soweto giants won the first-leg 3-0 away and secured a 1-0 win in the second-leg leg at home.

Here's how they line up:

Orlando Pirates: Ofori, Mthethwa, Xoki, Monyane, Maela, Timm, Ndlondlo, Kapinga, Hotto, Dlamini, Marou

Subs: Buthelezi, Baloni, Shandu, Kimvuidi, Ndah, Makaringe, Eva Nga
