The Soweto Derby is just under two weeks away and while Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs focus on preparations there are several players who could miss out on the most anticipated fixture of the season.
Pirates confirmed this afternoon that three players are nursing injuries and as things stand, just one of them could be fit in time for February 28.
Ben Motshwari is recovering from an ankle sprain, although he is due to start training soon, according to the club and hopefully he could be ready for selection on the day of the derby.

Meanwhile, Abel Mabaso and Nkanyiso Zungu is alson on the injury list. Mabaso is expected to be out for up to two weeks following a hamstring strain, while Zungu is set to begin cardio after he picked up an injury to his groin.
At Naturena, three players are currently on three yellow card bookings, while Chiefs still have a Nedbank Cup clash this coming weekend.
Reeve Frosler, Lebogang Manyama and Daniel Cardoso have all accumulated three yellow card bookings each. This means that should they pick up their fourth booking this weekend when Amakhosi face off with Highlands Park in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup competition – they will miss the Soweto derby on February 28 due to suspension.
Now, it remains to be seen whether both Pirates and Chiefs will be at full strength come February 28, when they lock horns at the FNB Stadium.
