Some – like defenders Teenage Hadebe and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, have been with Chiefs for at least a year, although are yet still to feature in one of the continent's biggest rivalries.

When Amakhosi host Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday in a crucial Absa Premiership fixture, these players will be desperate to be named in the team to finally make a contribution in front of what is expected to be a packed crowd.

New players at Pirates include Alfred Ndengane, Abel Mabaso, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Meshack Maphangule. Amakhosi newbies are goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi and Virgil Vries, Happy Mashiane and Reeve Frosler.
