Soweto Derby: 13 Debutants

Alfred Ndengane - solid in defence, likely to start alongside captain Happy Jele.

Between them, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have 13 players on their books who are still hoping to play in their first-ever Soweto Derby.

Some – like defenders Teenage Hadebe and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, have been with Chiefs for at least a year, although are yet still to feature in one of the continent's biggest rivalries. 

When Amakhosi host Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday in a crucial Absa Premiership fixture, these players will be desperate to be named in the team to finally make a contribution in front of what is expected to be a packed crowd.

New players at Pirates include Alfred Ndengane, Abel Mabaso, Kudakwashe Mahachi and Meshack Maphangule. Amakhosi newbies are goalkeepers Daniel Akpeyi and Virgil Vries, Happy Mashiane and Reeve Frosler.
