Four Orlando Pirates Goalkeepers Available As The Team Prepare To Face Kaizer Chiefs

Four Orlando Pirates Goalkeepers Available As The Team Prepare To Face Kaizer Chiefs

Orlando Pirates are expected to have all of their goalkeepers available for selection for this weekend's match as the team prepares to face Kaizer Chiefs in the upcoming Soweto Derby.

Following the return of Brilliant Khuzwayo to training, after being sidelined with an injury since joining the club during the off-season after parting ways with Chiefs, Milutin Sredojevic and his technical team have all of their goalkeepers available to play in the upcoming match.

Of the four keepers, only Khuzwayo has yet to play an official match for Bucs this season, having been delayed by the injury that troubled him earlier in the year.

Siyabonga Mpontshane, who appeared to be the club's number one goalkeeper for the majority of matches played so far in the campaign, has been replaced with Jackson Mabokgwane in the last two matches, against AmaZulu in the league and Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout.

Wayne Sandilands, who has been playing for the club's MultiChoice Diski Challenge team in recent weeks, has been deputising for Mabokgwane in recent matches for the senior team.

Speaking to the media during the Soweto Derby build-up press conference this week, Mabokgwane said that he has been impressed with the team's defence.

"We've been doing quite well at the back and we come from a clean sheet (against Chippa), and before that, we still conceded one against AmaZulu. But so far so good, we've been working hard on our defensive organisation. We're, obviously, looking forward to (continuing) with the clean sheets," said Mabokgwane.

The Buccaneers and Amakhosi are scheduled to play their sold-out Absa Premiership Soweto Derby match at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon from 15h30.
