The Buccaneers claimed the bragging rights in the Soweto derby after coming from behind to defeat Chiefs 2-1 at the FNB Stadium.
With Chiefs trailing in the second half, Solinas first withdrew Castro in the 74th minute, before Billiat was taken out four minutes later.
The AmaKhosi coach has now explained that former Sundown duo were not 100 percent for the encounter.
"The fitness of Khama [Billiat] and [Leonardo] Castro is not top. Castro comes from long [term] injury, it's not possible to play him 90 minutes," Solinas told Chiefs.
"Castro said to me "I can only play 75 minutes maximum". Khama Billiat is a little bit tired so I decided to put another fresh player for movement and the pressing guy,"
Chiefs wil now turn their attention to next week's Telkom Knockout clash against SuperSport United.
