Sony have explained how you will be able to upgrade your PS4 games once you move across to a PlayStation 5.
The PS5 will be launching in South Africa next month, and a number of developers have already confirmed that their PS4 games will offer free PS5 upgrades.
However, it is important to note that there are two versions of the PS5, a digital and disc version, and upgrades will relate to the way you purchased the original game.
Explaining the upgrades, Gamespot stated that if you are buying games on disc, and wish to upgrade when the new console arrives, you need to make sure that you are getting the disc version of the PS5, which will retail at R11 999.
If you buy the games on the PS store digitally, then you will be able to upgrade on the digital PS5 (R9 999) as well as the more expensive disc version of the console.
When upgrading a disc game, you will need to insert the PS4 disc into the PS5 and then select 'upgrade' on the game hub. This will prompt a download of the game which will be associated with the actual game disc.
This means that as long as you have your disc, you will be able to play the PS5 version of the game
Digital games are slightly easier, as you just need to find the game in the PlayStation Store or on the game hub and select 'upgrade.'
Sony have also explained that the ability to transfer saved games between the two consoles will be dependent on the developers, and may vary between titles.
