Polokwane City talisman Oswin Appollis is understood to have been the subject of interest from rival DStv Premiership clubs in January, but a move was halted by the Rise and Shine hierarchy.
The SuperSport United youth product appeared to have a career that was dwindling into oblivion when Matsatsantsa sent him to the lower division to play for AmaTuks and then later he joined Pretoria Callies.
Indications are that the move to City, who were promoted back to the topflight this season, came out of nowhere – and Appollis has made the most of it.
Soccer Laduma has previously reported that Kaizer Chiefs had shown interest, and it's now emerged that AmaZulu FC were eager to lure him away from Limpopo too, especially on the back of strong performances.
Appollis was also noticed by coach Hugo Broos and was one of the few surprise inclusions to the Bafana Bafana squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is understood to have led to City not wanting to sell.
The 22-year-old is still contracted to Rise and Shine for another two years and his stock has certainly risen following his national team call-up. With January deals often complicated and pressed for time, it is expected that City will be open to offers at the end of the season if they meet their evaluation of the star man.
