Modiba Attracts Interest In Tanzania?

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Aubrey Modiba could be receiving interest from across the continent, particularly from Tanzanian giants Simba SC, the Siya crew has been informed.

Siya sources close to both clubs have indicated that Simba's pursuit of Modiba could be solid, though the potential transfer remains in the negotiation stage.

"Simba have shown interest in Aubrey Modiba. That's between the two teams right now. I can't say much about the details of the situation because Simba have shown interest and they have to deal with Sundowns," said the Siya source.

"It doesn't mean it's a deal or an agreement yet. Yes, they have shown interest and it will depend on what Sundowns will say on the whole issue as he is their player," the source told Soccer Laduma.

The Tanzanian giants, however, are patient suitors. While eager to welcome Modiba's defensive prowess to their shores, they're thought to be willing to wait until the Premiership season concludes in South Africa, if necessary.

A second Siya source discussed the potential deal further, including a few factors that need to be met to make it possible.

"Simba are not in a hurry right now. Though they want the defender as soon as they can but they have indicated that they are willing to wait until the end of the season as to give Sundowns time to look for a replacement if they agree to the move. But what I know is that management and the technical team have been monitoring Aubrey (Modiba) for some time and they are willing to get him no matter the financials, which will be involved at the end of it all," the source observed.

Soccer Laduma has reached out to Sundowns, and the club has chosen not to comment on this story. The saga of Modiba's potential switch could go either way. Will the talented left-back make waves in Tanzanian football or remain a pillar for the reigning South African champions? Only time will tell.
