Unexpected Turn: Mdantsane In Loan Limbo?

Unexpected Turn: Mdantsane In Loan Limbo?

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - MAY 25: Therlo Moosa of Cape Town Spurs and Mduduzi Mdantsane of Kaizer Chiefs

In the dynamic world of football, plans can change in an instant, especially when injuries and disciplinary issues come into play, as it has at Kaizer Chiefs.

Midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane has received a setback due to injury where he will now find it difficult to gain game time, whether that would be to prove himself at Chiefs or even to attract a new club.

Siya sources close to the player have indicated that Amakhosi were believed to be sending Mdantsane out on loan to gain playing time as they head into pre-season in Turkey.

"The team's plan was to loan him out this season so that he can have more game time than at Chiefs. That's why the team would be looking at attacking midfielders to sign when he would possibly be out on loan. But then he got injured and there is no team that could sign an injured player and this will delay his loan move. But there was interest from some teams and discussions were held but they are on hold due to the injury," the Siya source stated.

Further complicating matters, a second insider believes that an incident involving Mdantsane and Itumeleng Khune last season influenced the decision to consider a loan.

"That incident and his performances effected the decision so the previous technical team, together with management, decided that this season he should be loaned out. There are two clubs which have already shown interest but we can't mention them at the moment because of the talks going on. But then his injury as well (complicates matters). But one team is Gauteng based. That I can tell you," said the second Siya source.

Mdantsane, who joined Chiefs in July 2023 on a three-year contract until June 2026, played his first season at the Glamour Boys without recording a goal or assist.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of preparing this report.
