Former Kaizer Chiefs player Kgaogelo Sekgota had attracted interest from a Moroccan team before he was booked into a rehab centre in South Africa, according to the CEO of Hope of Achievers Rehabilitation Centre in Limpopo, Watson Luandi.
Luandi stated that there are three players at his rehab facility, with the other two being Lerato Chabangu and Yamkela Phalane.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Luandi stated that his centre took Sekgota in after a request from the family.
"Firstly, let me give acknowledgment to NKRL foundation that does the work of recognising the soccer players who are in need of help. Our passion is to help these guys so that they can regain their dignity on and off the field. While on that, let me stress this point, Kgaogelo was not using drugs. He is only using Marijuana which is easy to rehabilitate," Luandi told the Siya crew.
"My job is to help them find themselves and rewriting their story. So it’s up to the patient after they finish the program if they are willing to go back to soccer. As the centre we can’t decide for them, but so far Sekgota, as well as the other players who are here, are doing very well and they will be ready to be reintegrated to society soon."
Meanwhile, Luandi further stated that the family have informed him that there was interest in the player from a Moroccan side.
"There is a team that he is contracted to presently, so I think they are the best to answer that question, but we believe that there is a club in Morocco that has previously shown interest in the player and that's why the family wants him to get his life back as he is still young."
The Hope of Achievers Rehabilitation Centre is based in Segwashi Village in Limpopo and does not only house football players but other professionals, including teachers who need rehabilitation for different reasons.
The Siya crew was unable to speak directly with Sekgota because it's against the centre's rules. Soccer Laduma contacted Upington City for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this story. This publication also contacted the agent that represented Sekgota, but there was no response by the time this report was published.
