SA Starlet Tipped To Follow In The Footsteps Of Benni in Europe

SA Starlet Tipped To Follow In The Footsteps Of Benni in Europe

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Mazibuko traveled to Portugal late last year for trials after Gil Vicente scouts observed him in South Africa. The club has been impressed with his performance and it is believed that they are ready to sign him, having tabled an offer to SuperSport United.

"For now Gil Vincente are happy with what they have seen in Manelisi (Mazibuko). That's why they have approached SuperSport United and tabled the offer to sign him on a professional contract. We are hoping that Gil Vincente and SuperSport United reach a transfer agreement soon," said the insider.

"This will pave way for the player to realise his dream of plying his trade in Europe. Everything is looking good at the moment. This would be a great move not only for Manelisi but also for the country and SuperSport United. The country would have more youngsters playing in Europe while United would financially benefit from the deal. This could really be a great move for the player above all, as he will realise his dream," the insider added.

A second Siya source mentioned that Gil Vicente were waiting for Mazibuko to turn 18 so they could sign him as a professional rather than an amateur.

"You know he turns 18-years-old next month and will be eligible to sign a professional contract and that's why they have made the offer now. At the moment the decision rests with SuperSport United. But this could be the right time for him to move to Europe as he will easily adjust to the new environment as he is still young. Most South African players who went to Europe at a tender age did very well. Players like Benni McCarthy, Steven Pienaar and Aaron Mokoena to mention but a few, and if Manelisi can move to Europe  now it will be the right time as well," the second source revealed.

Gil Vicente scouts attended the No Limits Atlas SA showcase, held from December 6 to 8 last year, at Balfour Park in South Africa. Soccer Laduma reached out to SuperSport United for comment, but there was no response at the time of this report.
