The Botswana Premier League continues to open its doors to South African coaches, with Mandla Zwane now emerging as a candidate to follow in the footsteps of fellow countrymen.
Just recently, former Magesi FC mentor Owen da Gama confirmed his move to Black Lions FC in Botswana, explaining the motivations behind crossing the border after his release from the Limpopo outfit.

The Lions, who acquired the top flight status of VTM Football Club, are aiming high for the new season with the former South Africa U23 coach in charge.
Another name strongly linked with a Botswana post is ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane, who is believed to be on the radar of Matebele FC following the departure of Sean Connor.
Now, attention has shifted to Zwane – the former Orlando Pirates midfielder from White City, Jabavu, Soweto.
His football journey, from the dusty township fields to representing South Africa at U23 level, Bafana Bafana, and featuring for the Buccaneers, has long been admired.
However, despite learning from great mentors like Pitso Mosimane and the late Thomas Madigage, Zwane has struggled to break into the coaching scene locally.

A source close to the situation told the Siya crew, “Mandla is very passionate about coaching, but he’s been overlooked for opportunities in South Africa. It’s not because he doesn’t have the knowledge, he’s worked under some of the best in the game, but doors just don’t seem to open for him here. A move to Botswana could finally give him the platform he deserves.”
With Botswana clubs actively recruiting Mzansi coaches, Zwane could be the next to test himself in the FNB Premiership, joining a growing list of local names finding opportunities outside the country.
