Chiefs Moving In For Second Richards Bay Player?

Insiders have indicated that the two clubs have been in discussions regarding the defender for some time, and Chiefs are believed to be set to make an offer to facilitate a potential transfer.

"What I know is that Chiefs have been interested in Mabuya for some time now since the start of the season and now it's believed that they are close to tabling an offer to buy the defender. No, I can't say how much it is but it's between the two clubs right now and it's up to Richards Bay to decide. But what we know is that Chiefs are interested in the defender," the Siya source stated.

A second insider stated that if the deal goes through, then Richards Bay could retain the two Chiefs players currently on loan at the club.

"From what we understand, there could be a player exchange between the two clubs, mainly Mduduzi Mdantsane. Yes, Sabelo Radebe could also stay but that could be decided when everything is settled and agreed upon. Now they have to consider the offer Chiefs have tabled first then the rest (can happen) including a player exchange could follow," the second insider revealed.

Mabuya joined Richards Bay in 2020, and the 24-year-old defender has appeared in most league games for the KZN team this season.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for comment on the matter, but there was no response at the time of publishing.

This publication also contacted Richards Bay chairman Sfiso Jomo Biyela, who did respond on the situation.

"There was interest (from Chiefs). Not sure now," Biyela told the Siya crew.
