AmaZulu FC have expressed interest in former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Dolly, following his recent release from Amakhosi, according to insiders privy to information.

Dolly, a former Bafana Bafana star, had been linked with SuperSport United after his departure from Chiefs. However, he was notably absent from United's pre-season training and camp in Botswana, sparking further speculation about his future.

Siya sources close to the situation have indicated that AmaZulu are now a frontrunner in the pursuit of Dolly.

"It seems the team that is in the lead to land his signature is AmaZulu FC. They have made inquires and talks are ongoing. You know with his experience and knowledge there is no doubt that he will have stories but I don't know what happened with SuperSport United. Now, AmaZulu are believed to be in the forefront to land his signature," the Siya source stated.

A second insider at AmaZulu FC highlighted that the main sticking point in the negotiations could be the financial details.

"There is no doubt about the interest from the team. The only think they are critically looking at is the monetary issues which include the signing on fee and salary. It's clear that he was on a big salary at Kaizer Chiefs and they are looking at this. They can meet half way at a compromising position where both parties are happy. So, that is the only thing which could delay the talks as things stand," the second source stated.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder's tenure at Chiefs was a mixed bag, marred by injuries in his last season where he played only seven PSL games and one Carling Knockout fixture without scoring a goal, but provided one assist.

However, his first Amakhosi season in 2021/22 was promising, as he played 26 league games, scoring eight goals with four assists. During the second season in 2022/23, he scored five goals with four assists in 25 games.
