Chiefs Regret Letting Dithejane Go?

Puso Dithejane was one of the players who didn't want to be a ball boy at Naturena, and was eventually sold to TS Galaxy.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that now Amakhosi regret selling Dithejane and want him back.

In the past, Chiefs had re-signed former players who once left the club, such as Siphelele Mthembu, Zitha Kwinika, and Mduduzi Mdantsane. Now, they are looking at bringing another youth development product back to the club.

Sources have added that the recruiters and scouts at the club have recommended that the club looks into the Galaxy player. Insiders discussed how Dithejane's name has been mentioned in the corridors of Naturena with the main intention of bringing him back.

"There have been talks at the club and there were different views from different people at the club about letting Puso go and now they are looking at what happened as a mistake and they would want to have him back at the club," said the Siya source.

"However it will all depend on the player. He felt disrespected the he left the club but at the same time he has grown at the club and he would love to come back and play there again. So it's a catch-22 situation right now but the club has made it clear that they would want to have him back at the club," the source added.

A second insider stated that the only stumbling block that could discourage Chiefs would be the asking price from TS Galaxy, as they had to pay about R1 million to sign Dithejane from Chiefs.

"Obviously TS Galaxy won't let him go cheap if Chiefs come calling for his name. They paid a certain amount to Chiefs to clear him to play for them. So then it was an investment which should come with a profit and that's what could discourage Chiefs from buying him," said the second insider.

"But they have done it before with players like Kwinika and Mdantsane and they could do it again with Dethejane, this time around because they are really happy with his progress at TS Galaxy," the second insider added.

Last season, in his first season in the PSL, the 20-year-old featured in a fair amount of matches. This season, he has played in all four league games, as well as the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout.

Dithejane spoke to the local media a few months ago, admitting that he should have respected Chiefs and went on to provide his services as a ball boy, like other youngsters in the junior structures. He had also discussed how he missed playing at Chiefs.

This publication contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this report.

If Amakhosi consider bringing back Dithejane, the decision highlights the club's willingness to rectify past mistakes and invest in promising talent. With Dithejane's impressive progress at TS Galaxy, fans will be eager to see if the club can navigate the financial hurdles and secure his return.
