The Amakhosi are still in the running for the 2016/17 Absa Premiership title as they sit three points behind league leaders, Cape Town City. With eight games to play, they are confident that they can continue their push for league silverware.
Steve Komphela has kept a relatively close-knit group of players for his team up to now, with only four clubs using fewer players than the Amakhosi (27) throughout the course of the entire season. Baroka used the most (40).
Only four clubs in South Africa have used fewer players in the Absa Premiership than Kaizer Chiefs this season and some of their men have hardly got a run at all.
With that in mind, things do not bode well for the players who have not yet been able to force their way into Komphela's XI. They may have to come to terms that next season could see them leave either on loan or permanently.
Siphelele Mthembu:
This is one player who is definitely leaving. The 29-year-old has struggled to make the grade at Naturena and it has already been confirmed that he will be going when the 2016/17 campaign comes to an end.
Camaldine Abraw:
The Togolese forward was unlucky with a bad knee injury, but despite apparently returning to fitness and being registered, he has not even made Chiefs' matchday squad this year. The 26-year-old has been replaced by Gustavo Paez.
Luthando Sixhaso:
Despite being the oldest of the back-ups for Itumeleng Khune and Brilliant Khuzwayo, the 23-year-old seems to have dropped down the pecking order behind MDC promotion, Bruce Bvuma, who is 21.
Siboniseni Ngcobo:
Even though he was promoted to Chiefs' first team in 2015 and spent six months on loan with Chippa United last year, Ngcobo is still waiting for his Absa Premiership debut. With him turning 23 this year he is no longer a kid and it seems unlikely that he'll get past Ramahlwe Mphahlele or Kgotoso Moleko.
Ryan Moon:
Still just 20 and considered a talent for the future, Moon hasn't been given a single start for Chiefs in any competition so far and given the club's scoring problems earlier in the season, he will be disappointed not to have broken into the side at any point.
Meanwhile, the club also has the likes of big-name signing, Siyanda Xulu, as well as Lewis Macha and Emmanuel Letlotlo with just four starts between them so far and less than 200 league minutes under their belt at this stage.
