The Siya crew has been led to believe that betting company Hollywoodbets is considering shifting their marketing strategy and partnering with the Premier Soccer League.
The company has been the flagship sponsor of the South African Football Association and have bankrolled the fledging National Women's Championship since the 2021/22 season. They put on the table a R17m sponsorship for the female championship, where the winners take home R2 million, which has been collected by Mamelodi Sundowns since inception.
However, this publication has picked on information that the company feels like expanding more and negotiating with the professional PSL as well as partnering with some of the country's top clubs.
Among the clubs earmarked for partnerships has been ambitious KwaZulu-Natal side AmaZulu FC, as well as Soweto's two biggest rivals Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The crew has been unable to establish whether linking up with the PSL indicates that the betting company intends pulling out their stakes from SAFA and throwing their weight entirely with the professional wing.
However, there is no doubt that there has been a marked improvement in South African women's football since Hollywoodbets linked up with SAFA while many companies have folded their arms and neglected that space.
