Foreign Favourite Named In Chiefs' Coaches Shortlist?

If Kaizer Chiefs can't bring in coach Pitso Mosimane, their preferred next candidate has been named, according to insiders privy to information.

Soccer Laduma revealed how there is a shortlist of coaches in line to take over the Chiefs helm when Cavin Johnson is expected to return to his original position with the academy.

Yesterday, insiders had only named the two local coaches on that list, Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi but now the favourite choice among the foreign options has been revealed.

Sources close to Amakhosi have indicated that the head coach in question is Brazil's Alexandre Gallo. Soccer Laduma had previously covered the South American's background when he was originally linked to Chiefs

Siya sources have provided a reminder that Mosimane is still Chiefs' number one preference, but Gallo is next in line and the club is working hard to bring in either option in their five-man shortlist.

"You know among the five shortlisted is the Brazilian coach Mr Gallo. But he is not like the first choice. The first choice is obviously Pitso (Mosimane). They are looking at a local coach first and Mosimane is on top of the list but if for other reasons they can't get him then Mr Gallo is the second choice. He is also on the shortlist as we speak," the Siya source told Soccer Laduma.

A second Siya source revealed that all of the coaches on the shortlist are currently attached to clubs.

"The problem with Chiefs concerning the coaches they really want is that they are attached to different teams at the moment and they would not come easy as those clubs could either offer them new contracts or they would be expensive on their own but those are the coaches they want," said the second Siya source.

"Coach Alexandre (Gallo) is on the shortlist and I think only Pitso Mosimane is the main challenge to him as things stand," the source added.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received by the time this story was published.
