The Mother City club recently secured a four-year sponsorship deal with SportPesa, as confirmed in a press conference last week. It is believed that the deal is a multimillion-rand agreement, although its value was not revealed.
Benni McCarthy' team knocked Polokwane City out of the MTN8 at the weekend, in the new kit, which bears the logo of the club's new sponsor.
As reported by the Siya crew, the Cape side could face the wrath of the league and the game against Polokwane was played under protest.
Rise and Shine protested against the Citizens for playing in the wrong attire, according to Siya sources. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the PSL is questioning the legitimacy of the SportPesa sponsorship deal.

The indication is that City could face a fine after failing to get permission from the league for the above-mentioned sponsorship and according to the source, City contravened the League's resolution by signing the agreement with SportPesa, a sports betting platform.
The source further indicated that the PSL's Executive Committee had previously made a decision that it would be beneficial for the league to secure all sponsorship deals arising from betting platforms and that clubs would not enter into agreements with any betting platforms.
It is alleged that City boss, John Comitis, was part of that Executive Committee and was in favour of the resolution.
