Ajax Cape Town Have Responded To The FIFA Rulings That May Be Against The Club Playing Tendai Ndoro

The matter involving Tendai Ndoro and his registration with Ajax Cape Town is up in the air at the moment, with the PSL unclear on the rules.    The Siya crew revealed on Wednesday, January 24, that Ndoro's registration with Ajax had been brought into question, with suggestions that the player had contravened a FIFA regulation by playing for three clubs in one season, with the Urban Warriors being the third team.    Read: Ndoro Dropped Amid Eligibility Investigation   According to FIFA's rulebook, rule 5.3 states that a player can be registered with three different clubs in a season but will only be able to play official matches for two of these clubs.   Rule 5.3 states, "Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected."   According to Siya sources, it is believed that Ajax are of the understanding that they did not contravene any of the FIFA regulations. The source close to the PSL has suggested that the Ajax camp believe that Ndoro is eligible to be fielded by Ajax, based on FIFA rule, 5.4.   Rule 5.4 states, "Under all circumstances, due consideration must be given to the sporting integrity of the competition. In particular, a player may not play official matches for more than two clubs competing in the same national championship or cup during the same season, subject to stricter individual competition regulations of member associations."    Click here to check out the PSL fixtures   The League met yesterday, Thursday, for a PSL Exco meeting where the Ndoro matter was discussed, among other topics. The League subsequently sent a letter to Ajax today, Friday, where they indicated that they were unsure of the interpretation of the rules.   It is believed that Ajax have requested an urgent hearing with the DRC on Monday, to get a declaratory order, confirming that Ndoro can play for the rest of season.     Now, it remains to be seen what the outcome of the situation will entail and whether Ajax will be able to field Ndoro or not
