Ajax Cape Town have opted against pursuing the signature of Steven Pienaar.
It was reported recently by the Siya crew that Cape Town City were monitoring the situation of Pienaar, who was released by Bidvest Wits.

It was subsequently revealed by Siya sources that the player was yet to receive his clearance from Wits, in order to put pen to paper with another club.
The Siya crew has since been informed that Ajax were assessing the possibility of adding the 35-year-old to their books but since opted against pursuing Pienaar any further, indicating that Head Coach Muhsin Ertugral may not be keen on the player.

Now, it remains to be seen whether Pienaar will continue his professional football career in Mzansi or elsewhere, or if the veteran midfielder will consider hanging up his boots.
