In his first season plying trade in the Middle East, a South African midfielder has achieved a rare feat, by helping his team gain promotion to the top division.
Having left Mzansi earlier this year to join Al-Sareeh SC in Jordan as reported by the Siya crew, Jacob Hlalele has helped the club to gain promotion to the country's Premier League.
Al-Sareeh drew 1-1 with Moghayer Al Sarhan on Tuesday to seal their promotion to the top tier and Hlalele was part of the players who ensured that the team moved up a division to compete with the best teams in the country.
The player's ecstatic representative in Mzansi, Baggio Collen from BM Sports Consultancy, spoke to the Siya crew about the latest development.
"The son of the soil, Jacob 'Papas' Hlalele, has made history by becoming the first South African footballer to win promotion in his maiden season from the Jordanian Pro league which is their first division to the Jordanian Premier League with Al-Sareeh," confirmed the intermediary.
