Mosimane made only change after a 2-0 win in the first-leg, as he recalled Ahmed Fathi in place Ali Maaloul while there was a South African reunion on the pitch, as referee Victor Gomes officiated the match.

There was controversy from the start as Marwan Mohsem finished off a good attacking move for the hosts after going through inside the box in the fifth minute and initially the goal was ruled out for offside but after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) intervention, the goal was given.

Hussein El Shahat doubled the lead for the Red Devils in the 26th minute with a stunning strike from the into the bottom corner after he was teed by Aliou Dieng from a quick counter-attack.

The game opened up in the latter phase of the first stanza, with Al Ahly getting the better chances on counter-attacks while Wydad were threatening with crosses into the danger area but Mosimane's charges remained 2-0 up at the break.

Mosimane's charges had the freedom to venture forward coming from the break, which eventually resulted in the third goal as Yasser Ibrahim found the back of the net with a towering header from Hussein El Shahat's cross.

The South African coach kept Wydad under pressure with a double attacking change in the last quarter of an hour, after bringing on Walid Soliman in placec of Oluwafemi Ajayi and Ahmed El Sheikh on for El Shahat.

Second-half substitute Zouheir El Moutaraji pulled a goal back for Miguel Gamondi's troops in the last eight minutes with a wonderful strike from outside the box but Al Ahly had already wrapped up the result to secure a 3-1 win on the night and 5-1 on aggregate.
