Pitso Reacts To Okocha Backing Him For Nigeria Job

Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane has reacted to Jay-Jay Okocha saying he would be happy to see the South African tactician take charge of the Super Eagles.

In a recent interview, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner called Mosimane one of Africa's best coaches, and said he would welcome him as Nigeria's manager amid the country's current struggles.

Okocha, who spent time in France, Germany and England during his playing days, praised the former Al Ahly head coach's "track record" and admitted the Super Eagles are currently not playing to the level they have shown in the past.

This comes amid Mosimane having been linked with the post, with Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro having found himself under pressure following the team's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The 60-year-old, who is without a job, has since reacted to Okocha's kind words in a social media post, replying to the outlet that interviewed the retired footballer.

"Legendary JJ," he wrote.

"Have you seen his footage when he was playing? He used to turn defenders in Europe inside out. Same class as Ronaldinho. A gentleman also."

Mosimane is widely regarded in Africa, having claimed countless trophies in charge of top clubs on the continent such as Sundowns and Al Ahly.
