Chiefs Legend Sends Message To Club About Pitso

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Edward Manqele has said that out of the five coaches reported to be on the Amakhosi shortlist, the club should go with the well-travelled Pitso Mosimane.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, there are five shortlisted coaches for the Amakhosi hot seat.

The candidates include Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi as the two local coaches followed by Alexandra Gallo from Brazil, Spaniard Raul Caneda Spain and another Brazilian in Luxemburgo.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview Manqele who also played for Sundowns under Mosimane said that he feels the Saudi Arabia based mentor understands local football much better compared to the other four in the list.

"The guy (Pitso Mosimane) puts 100% to his work and looking at what he did at Mamelodi Sundowns he can do the same at Chiefs. How he built the team to win trophies it's because of him. Sundowns wasn't doing well and he took over. After few years Downs were winning each and every trophy and dominating the PSL and even won the CAF Champions League. That's why in my opinion I will go with Pitso. He is the right coach that change things at Chiefs at this point. They should investigate in him and give him time. He will do it and things will change," Manqele said.

The Mhlakeng, Randfontein-based former striker added that Mosimane' knowledge and understanding of the local game will also come in handy if appointed.

"To add on that he understands South African football and can get the best out of players. He has that gift of making the players understand him and play for him as well as the team because he knows the importance of team work and bringing all the players together for the goodness and betterment of the team. That's why I believe that if they go for Pitso (Mosimane) they will be doing the right thing. I will go with Pitso too," Manqele concluded.

Chiefs are expected to announce the new coach at the end of the season to take over from the current interim coach Cavin Johnson, who replaced Molefi Ntseki late last year.
