Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba, recently released by Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, finds himself at a career crossroad with interest from both local and international teams.
While Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly shown interest in bringing him on board as a free agent, fellow professional and compatriot Lebogang Phiri has advised Mothiba to continue his career in Europe rather than returning to South Africa's top flight.

Mothiba has been looking to boost his fitness recently, hoping to gain a new club and return to the South African national team.
Additionally, there have been rumours of potential moves to the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia, as the search for his services continues. Despite these challenges, Phiri, who plays in France and recently signed a new deal with Ligue 2 side En Avant Guingamp, believes that Mothiba's skills are best suited to European leagues.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Phiri expressed his protective sentiment towards Mothiba, whom he considers like a younger brother.
"I take Lebo (Mothiba) as my little brother, so I will never ill-advise him in his career. I believe Lebo is amongst the top strikers that we have in the country on a good or bad day. He is a very talented young boy, a very humble young boy, a very hardworking young boy," Phiri said, according to SABC Sport.

"He belongs in Europe, it may not be now because of what has transpired, his injuries but he should never think of his injuries as something to make him give up on his dreams," he added.
Mothiba's decision on his next move is pivotal. With options in South Africa, Europe, and potentially the Middle East, the advice from a seasoned international peer like Phiri to remain in Europe, highlights the belief in Mothiba's ability to overcome his challenges and succeed at the highest levels.
As Mothiba weighs his options, his choice will significantly impact his career trajectory and his potential to return to peak form.
