After disappointingly missing out on Bafana Bafana's AFCON squad, St Louis midfielder Njabulo Blom is looking for a fresh slate with his team, where he is currently undergoing his first pre-season.

Having joined the club in January last year, Blom was thrown into the proverbial deep end in the MLS. However, the Soweto-born lad proved that he could survive testing waters as he amassed an impressive 30 appearances in all competitions.
Now with the new MLS season just over one week away, Blom has cast his sights on an injury-free campaign with the Bradley Carnell-coached side.
"To be quite honest, I'm happy to be here with the guys, start the preseason a bit early. But obviously I always want to play for my national team, but I'm still happy to be here as early as possible, just to join the team and for the new season," he told St.Louis Post Dispatch.

"Obviously for me,I think it was my first time leaving home, coming to a different country. So, it was a little difficult for me in terms of my emotions. Sometimes I get frustrated because I miss home, I miss my family. I think it wasn't easy, but the team and everyone around the team made things a bit easier for me to adapt," he said.
First up for Blom will be the CONCACAF Champions League first round where they will take on Houston Dynamo on February 28.
