Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero has signed a long-term contract extension

The future of Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero has been decided.

Serero,30, recently entered the last six months of his Al Jazira Club contract, which was due to expire in June 2021, meaning that he was free to negotiate a pre-contract with any team of his choice.

However, the UAE giants moved quickly to secure Serero's future and announced that the midfielder has signed a contract extension until 2023.

"Hi guys, I just want to announce that I have just extended my contract with the club and I just want to give thanks to Al Jazira, to the Board of Directors, my teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans. I'm very excited to stay until 2023," Serero told the club's media department.

The former Ajax Cape Town man, who is working his way back from injury, has been a key part of coach Marcel Kaiser's and has featured 12 times already this season. He has also contributed with two assists.

Serero, who is largely considered to be the best defensive midfielder in the UAE Gulf League, joined Al Jazira in August 2019 from Dutch outfit Vitesse.
