Result: AmaZulu 1-2 TS Galaxy

Date: 14 March 2025

Venue: King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium

Veli Mothwa retained his spot in goals for Usuthu following the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, while coach Arthur Zwane recalled defender Nkosikhona Radebe against his former team.

The visitors carved out the game's first chance after 11 minutes when Keagan Dolly sent a neat through-ball for striker Dženan Zajmovic, who was denied by the advancing Mothwa before he fired over target from the rebound.

There was a lively tempo to the clash from both sides, but it was Galaxy who broke the deadlock on 30 minutes Zajmovic continued his impressive debut by bagging his eighth goal with a first-time finish just inside the box.

The AmaZulu defence was breached once again in the 38th minute as Kamogelo Sebelebele latched onto a long-ball from Marks Munyai before shrugging off one challenge and calmly slotting past Mothwa from 12 yards out.

However, Usuthu did give themselves some hope two minutes before the break as a scramble in the box ended with Elmo Kambindu slamming home from close range for his fourth goal in nine league appearances for the club.

Coach Zwane opted for his first change ten minutes after the break as Rowan Human was hauled off after a quiet game, with Etiosa Ighodaro brought on to bolster the attack alongside Kambindu.

Usuthu dominated for the rest of the second period as they went in search of the equaliser, but the Galaxy defenders were able to thwart every attempt that came in the final third.

Galaxy, however, were able to see out the latter stages of the second half as goalkeeper Ira Tape also pulled off a great save in stoppage time to seal the win.

Here's how they lined up:

AmaZulu: Mothwa, Radebe, Hanamub, Mthethwa, Fielies, Mobara, Brooks, Moremi, Motshwari, Kambindu, Human
