Orlando Pirates are believed to have made their decision on Ben Motshwari, the Siya crew has learnt. For several months now, the player has had his future with the club in doubt with his contract nearing its expiry date. Motshwari will see his deal expire at the end of June, having joined the Buccaneers in 2018 from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
Under Jose Riveiro this past season, he struggled for regular game-time after making only 14 appearances in the DStv Premiership with just three starts. As reported by Soccer Laduma, the 32-year-old has had his proposal of a new contract rejected by the Soweto giants during the negotiations.
According to sources, the Randfontein-born player is now likely to leave after five years of being with the side.
"Ben Motshwari is likely to leave Pirates. The parties have failed to reach an agreement regarding a new deal and the player will be allowed to move on. Also, he has been concerned about his lack of regular game-time and a change of environment might help him in the new season," said a source.
SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United are some of the clubs the midfielder has been linked with in recent weeks, with the former likely to be his destination under Gavin Hunt, with whom he worked at the Clever Boys.
