Orlando Pirates star Wayde Jooste has been showered with praise for his gallant performances and progress in his first season with the club.
Having joined the Buccaneers in October from Highlands Park, where he excelled as a winger under coach Owen da Gama, Jooste was moved to right-back at the Soweto giants and did well.
Despite being disrupted by injury in his progress, the 29-year-old returned strong in the last few games of the season and did well in helping the team to finish in a respectable third place on the DStv Premiership log.
Speaking about the player's 2020/21 season, Jooste's agent Kieran Brown lauded the ex-Golden Arrows man for his brave showing after making 18 league appearances in total.
Also, Jooste was one of the five players who started in all four games in the MTN8, along with Thulani Hlatshwayo, Ben Motshwari, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Vincent Pule, as Bucs went all the way to win the trophy.
"Wayde Jooste has had a very good season and he showed a lot of mental strength to be able to come back from injury, and to come back stronger than he was before. He's done very well, and he has had a good season," said Brown, speaking to the Siya crew.
With Pirates set to begin the new season with changes in the technical team after the club added Mandla Ncikazi to their technical team, and with Mthokozisi Dube who made a staggering 26 stars under the mentor at Abafana Bes'thende among the players set to return, the agent is confident that Jooste won't be affected by the changes, having previously worked with the coach at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
"He's had a strong season and I think he is a Pirates fan at heart, he loves the club, and he is grateful for the opportunity. We are confident that even if there is a change, he is more than capable enough to challenge for his position," said Brown.
