In Bucs' 2023/24 campaign, the 31-year-old made only 10 league appearances, three in the CAF Champions League, with his only other match in the MTN8 in what has been a disappointing season by his standards.
The attacking midfielder has been with the Soweto giants since 2019, having joined from Maritzburg United.
"Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that Fortune Makaringe will be leaving the club," confirmed Pirates on the club's official website.

"Following four incredible seasons and over 140 matches, our journey with the 31-year-old midfielder has come to an end. Words cannot fully express our gratitude and appreciation for Makaringe. Throughout his time with us, he consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and discipline. The Club will always be grateful for his contribution and wishes him nothing but the best in his future endeavours," concluded the club's statement.
Sekhukhune United is one of the clubs that Makringe has been linked with although it remains to be seen where he will decide to go next as he is a free agent and within his rights to join a club of his choice.
