Another Call Up Loading For Pirates Captain?

Olisa Ndah of Orlando Pirates during the Betway Premiership 2024/25 match between Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto on 24 September 2024

Another call up is loading for Olisa Ndah, the Siya crew understands, as the defender continues to reap the rewards of his hard work this season.

Ndah has been in scintillating form for the Buccaneers and is one of the reasons the team has been firing on all cylinders in the different competitions.

With the towering centre-back playing alongside the young Thabiso Sesane, who himself has also been named in an international squad, for Bafana Bafana's preliminary squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Bucs have conceded only three goals in nine matches in all competitions so far this season.

Since being handed the armband this season, as Pirates captain Innocent Maela has been struggling for regular game time, Ndah has elevated his performances with his leadership qualities being pivotal in the team's inspiring performances and results.

The 26-year-old has been lauded for the ability to play both in the air and on the ground, and his calmness under pressure makes him standout.

In the most recent match for Bucs, the 3-0 win over Polokwane City on Tuesday, Ndah was voted for as Man of the Match despite being forced out of the field in the 84th minute by an injury.

According to sources in Nigeria, the dreadlocked star is in contention for a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for next month's AFCON qualifiers against Libya.

"He impressed the last time he was in the national team earlier this month and will get another opportunity next month. He is in the plans," said the source.

Ndah was one of the two PSL players in the Nigeria team for the matches against Benin and Rwanda earlier this month, alongside Stanley Nwabali from Chippa United.

About the centre-back's performance against Benin, Nigeria caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen said, speaking to the media, "Ndah is not new, he was here for AFCON in Cameroon, so we have worked with him before and there is that synergy."
