Orlando Pirates' Josef Zinnbauer Could Still Tweak Line-Ups Despite Impressive Victory

Orlando Pirates' Josef Zinnbauer Could Still Tweak Line-Ups Despite Impressive Victory

Orlando Pirates coach, Josef Zinnbauer, has explained why he is likely to continue making changes to his line-ups, despite the team's convincing 2-0 victory over Cape Town City on Tuesday evening.

In recent weeks, the German coach has come under fire for the numerous changes he made in selecting his line-ups, with the critics pointing out at that some players are being played out of their usual positions.

However, the Buccaneers have been disrupted by injuries and the coach has admitted that it has not been easy to be consistent in his selections.

Some of the notable changes from yesterday's match were those of Siphesihle Ndlovu starting at right-back, while Deon Hotto was put up front as the number nine.

"It's not always easy when you have, after the games, problems. Like last week, it was (Vincent) Pule, and before it was (Paseka) Mako. We have always had a little bit of problems with injuries, players have had muscles problems like (Bongani) Sam last week. That's a problem, then we have a lot of games and always we have to manage. We have now a game on Sunday and we have a little bit more time for recovery," Zinnbauer told reporters after the match.

"You saw Monare coming out and I hope it's not so difficult for him. But I saw him after the game, and I think he feels good. I think it's those things that we have to work on, when the player is out then you have another one that you can put him in. Or when a player says I'm tired, or I feel my muscle a little bit then you protect the player. I know that there will be questions on why the coach is always changing or why is he not playing players in right positions. Like (Siphesihle) Ndlovu today, at the moment we don't have right full-backs, and that's the reason why Ndlovu played in that position. The three full-backs are out injured. These are the things that you have to do and manage as a coach and it's not easy I understand the supporters," the coach said.
