Orlando Pirates are hoping to have their squad strengthened with more players being able to contribute to the team for the coming matches this season, as confirmed by the club's co-coach Fadlu Davids.
After seeing some improvement in their results in recent fixtures, having scored three goals in their previous league match when they beat Stellenbosch FC 3-0 last week and after scoring two goals in their 2-0 victory in the CAF Confederation Cup against LPRC Oilers of Liberia last weekend, the Buccaneers were brought down to earth by Kgoloko Thobejane's Baroka FC on Thursday after playing a 0-0 draw in Orlando.
With some of the Pirates players who have been injured slowly coming back, the technical team is hoping for an added boost, with the likes of Vincent Pule, Thembinkosi Lorch, Zakhele Lepasa and Richard Ofori also expected to join the rest of their teammates in full training soon.
Asked if the club will be looking at making signings in the January transfer window to add to the team, Davids said the Buccaneers have enough quality if all the players could be available for selection and stay injury-free.
"I think the transfer window…we'll get some great signings in and internally if you take Pule could be back, if you take Lorch being back, if you take Lepasa being back, if you take Ofori being back. Let's be honest, Lepasa, Lorch, Pule, that's our starting line-up front three and it's clear we're missing them. Those are the boost that we will get in January with all our main players coming back," said Davids, speaking to the media.
