From Europe, to France and Germany in search of a coach, Orlando Pirates are also seemingly keeping an eye on a local coach, who happens to be a former player of the club.
Mandla Ncikazi insinuated that the Pirates management is not pleased with the team's performance in the recently concluded season, while admitting he has failed, along with his co-coach Fadlu Davids, to meet all the objectives set by the Bucs hierarchy.
The Pirates co-coaches were mandated to at least win a trophy and quality for the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup. However, that didn't come to fruition as the club lost in the Confed final and concluded the DStv Prem in 6th place on the log, ending the season trophyless.
"Pirates is about cups, it is about trophies, the mandate is clear. We didn't meet the mandate, so that's not a successful season even though we don't want to highlight it, but everybody knows the truth. We had an agenda front of us that we had to fulfil it," Ncikazi told the media at Orlando Stadium.
"But for any other club, smaller club, for what we have done until now, it would be a good performance, but for Pirates, we have not met the objectives, we have failed. Pirates belong up there, and anything less than that, you have failed."
As reported by the Siya crew, Pirates are searching for a coach and have gone as far as Germany and France, with reports emerging that Benni McCarthy is one of the names bandied about in the club's quest for a head coach.
McCarthy has been unemployed since he parted ways with AmaZulu last season.
