Maela: New Kit To Boost Pirates CAF CL Ambitions

Orlando Pirates launched their 2023/24 kit in spectacular fashion on Wednesday evening and their captain Innocent Maela believes that this could inspire the club to clinch the elusive CAF Champions League title this season.

The Buccaneers, fresh from their pre-season preparations in Spain, headed to Sandton where the club in partnership with their long-term technical sponsors adidas revealed yet another spectacular kit.

There was a twist as the Soweto giants teamed up with renowned local designer Thebe Magugu who designed this season's kit – much to the adulation of fans and players alike.

Having won two trophies in the form of the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup in the 2022/23 campaign, the Buccaneers have set their sights on a trophy the club last lifted 28 years ago – the CAF Champions League.

By virtue of finishing second in the DStv Premiership, the Buccaneers have placed themselves amongst Africa's elite and they will be hoping their performances on the field mirror the creative spark off it, according to Maela.

"I think the supporters will love it and they will be excited to get their hands on the jersey. It's different, it's vibrant and has a lot of energy and hopefully this season it brings us more and more success. I'm urging our supporters to go out there and make sure that they get the jersey," he told the media at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton.

"This is the dream. As a team, that is where we want to compete. We want to compete against the best teams on the continent and conquer them to go all the way and we believe that this season we do have the squad, the talent and the quality to go all the way and win the tournament."

"That is what we want, it's what the club deserves and what the players want to achieve," he concluded.
