A former Orlando Pirates technical team member has said his goodbyes to SA as he closes in on a massive career move to Europe!
Michael Loftman spent a little over two seasons with the Buccaneers crisscrossing between the senior team and the club's development structures and the Siya crew understands he has been offered a huge opportunity abroad that he couldn't turn down.
He left Pirates in October last year.
This week, the 31-year-old coach confirmed he was leaving the country as he'd come to "the end of an era", though he did not reveal his next destination.
— Michael Loftman (@michael_loftman) January 26, 2021It's understood he is off to Belgium to take up a coaching post there and will add to what is already quite a decorated CV, which includes a Uefa A License, Master's degree, spells at Watford and Tottenham Spurs as an academy sports scientist and a development coach respectively.
Loftman was also the head coach of Zambian Premier League outfit Lusaka Dynamos.
At Pirates, he was part of an army of coaches and analysts that saw the Buccaneers go toe to toe with Mamelodi Sundowns for the league title for two seasons in a row but only managed to finish as runners up in both campaigns.
Since then he has been involved in various projects and coaching clinics, but it's understood the chance to return abroad was too good to refuse.
An announcement is expected early next week by his new employers.
