Orlando Pirates, the reigning double cup champions, are gearing up for another pre-season training tour in Europe, following the successful camp they held last season.

Soccer Laduma had already reported how the Buccaneers are scheduled to return to Europe, specifically to Spain and Germany from early July, aiming to replicate and build upon last year's fruitful experience. Former Pirates defender Edward "Magents" Motale, in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, emphasized the significant benefits of such international training camps.
"There is a lot to learn from such camps. You saw what happened last season when they went there. Yes, we had already won the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup but our performance improved this past season and we managed to defend those two trophies though we didn't fight enough in the league. But now that the team is expected to go back to Europe, that will be beneficial to the team and the players. They learn a lot from their counterparts there. If they go it will really be great for the team. It will be beneficial to Pirates," Motale believes.
Motale, affectionately known as Magents, highlighted the impact of high-performance centres in Europe on player development and fitness.
"The facilities that they use when in Europe are very good for player development and fitness which will help them when they come back to compete in the DStv. You know the team will compete in almost all the tournaments this season including the CAF Champions League and this is what they need for their confidence and morale going into the new season," Motale observed.
