Steve Komphela Feels Kaizer Chiefs Have A Responsibility To Their Fans

Steve Komphela

Steve Komphela hasn't given up on winning the Absa Premiership just yet and says that he and his players have a 'huge responsibility' to deliver for the club.   Read: Ekstein's Promise To The Amakhosi Faithful   The Amakhosi took one step closer to silverware on Saturday night as they beat Baroka 1-0 thanks to a header from Erick Mathoho, seeing them reach the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup where they will meet Free State Stars.   Chiefs cut things close in the second half as Bakgaga tried their best to get level, but Komphela's side held out and managed to reach the Nedbank semis for the first time since 2013/14 when they were beaten on penalties by Bidvest Wits.   Speaking to the club's official website after the game, Komphela expressed his opinion that they're still not prepared to call it quits in the Absa Premiership, despite being seven points behind the league leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.    Click here to check out the PSL fixtures   He said, "Going forward is a matter of going back to Johannesburg and getting ready for the next game.   "We don't have the luxury of selecting competitions. We are still playing to win the league as well. Hopefully, we will finally get a trophy – I think our administration and supporters deserve it. This is a big club and we need to win trophies.   "We take each and every game seriously… We have a huge responsibility to deliver."   Chiefs' next game sees them take on Stars in a warm up for their semi against Ea Lla Koto on Wednesday, with the Glamour Boys seeking their first win since mid-February.
