Nedbank Cup

Result: Phiva Young Stars 0-2 Chippa United

Date: 10 February 2018

Venue: Kabokweni Stadium

Goals from Ayabulela Konqobe and Linda Mntambo, handed Chippa United a 2-0 win over Phiva Young Stars, in their Nedbank Cup last 32 clash.

The Chilli Boys looked determined in the early stages and found the opener in the 14th minute through Ayabulela Kanqobe with a strike at the back post.   Young Stars could not cope with the pace United were playing with and were withdrawn in their own half as a result.   Linda Mntambo made it 2-0 to the Absa Premiership side, on the half-hour mark following a cross at the back post.   The ABC Motsepe League side were on the back-foot thereafter and found it difficult to launch attacks in their last third of the field.   The match went into the break with Teboho Moloi's charges in the driving seat leading 2-0.   Young Stars were an improved side in the early exchanges of the second half, but they still lacked the quality to penetrate Moloi's men.   The visitors made a change in the 65th minute, withdrawing midfielder Thabo Rakhale for Maselealo Seanego.   The Chilli Boys looked comfortable with 15 minutes remaining, as they knocked the ball around searching for the third goal.   Nevertheless, Chippa managed to see out the closing stages to claim the win and their spot in the Last 16.   Here's how they lined up:   Young Stars: 28.
