Nedbank Cup - Last 16
Result: Kaizer Chiefs 1-2 Black Leopards
Date: 21 March 2015
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs were dumped out of the Nedbank Cup after losing 2-1 to Black Leopards at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
Chiefs dominated the ball for most of the opening exchanges but only registered their first effort in the 15th minute when David Zulu placed an effort over the bar from the edge of the area.
However, it was Leopards who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, as an un-marked Morgan Shivambu fired past Reyaad Pieterse from six-yards out, although replays suggest he could have been in an offside position.
Zeca Marques' side grew in confidence after taking the lead and could have been further ahead but Nyundu could only fire straight at Pieterse, although squaring the ball looked the better option.
Chiefs struggled to create any clear cut openings and the frustration was showing on the sidelines, as Stuart Baxter was sent to the stands, after the referee Daniel Bennett had failed to award his side a penalty, when Mandla Masango was brought down in the box.
Chiefs best opening arrived just before the halftime break when Morgan Gould's volley from six-yards out was blocked by Leopards defender Jean Mugananga.
Chiefs came close to leveling matters five minutes after the halftime break when Tshinuna produced a fine finger-tip save to keep out Matthew Rusike's header.
Assistant coach, Doctor Khumalo, introduced George Lebese, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Siphelele Mthembu in the second half in the hope of grabbing an equaliser.
Although, it would be Willard Katsande who leveled matters for Chiefs in the 78th minute, as he headed home Tshabalala's in-swinging corner.
However, it was the National First Division side who claimed the win in stoppage when Roggert Nyundu's deflected effort managed to find its way into the back of net and send Chiefs packing.
Here's how they lined up:
Kaizer Chiefs: Pieterse, Moleko, Gould, Bukenya, Mtsweni, Katsande, Maluleka, Karuru, Masango, Zulu, Rusike
Black Leopards: Tshinuna, Nyirenda, Shivambu, Radebe, Mugananga, Maphangul, Ndou, Moabotja, Abubakar, Nyundu, Ntshangase
