Nedbank Cup Last 32
Result: Ajax Cape Town 1-2 Free State Stars
Date: 05 March 2016
Venue: Athlone Stadium
Ayanda Nkosi scored and set up another, as Free State Stars recorded a 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town at the Athlone Stadium.
Tashreeq Morris squandered a chance to hand Ajax the lead in the third minute. The striker rose well to meet Erwin Isaacs' corner but directed his header inches wide of the upright.
The hosts piled on the pressure in the early stages and Morris went close in the 15th minute when he volleyed just wide of the upright from 20-yards out.
Ajax continued to pass up chances, with an un-marked Ndabuka heading wide of the upright from close range in the 32nd minute.
The home side were made to rue those misses just before the break, as Vilakazi side-footed past Jaakkola, after being picked out by Ayanda Nkosi.
Ajax leveled matters just before the halftime break as Morris' effort was deflected in by Justice Chabalala, who was credited with the own goal.
Stars then doubled their lead in the 64th minute courtesy of a composed finish from Nkosi in the six-yard area, after some good work by Danny Venter.
Jaakkola came to the Urban Warriors' rescue in the 77th minute, as he produced a stunning save to deny Moeketsi Sekola in the area.
Roger de Sa's charges pushed for an equalising goal to force extra-time but they could not create a clear-cut opening, as Stars progressed to the Last 16.
