Kaizer Chiefs go into this evening's Nedbank Cup semi-final with Free State Stars knowing that they're running the risk of making their current trophy drought the longest in the club's history.

Since the Amakhosi were formed in 1970 they have never gone three whole seasons without picking up a single piece of major silverware, but that could all change if they don't get their hands on the cup at the end of their current campaign.
Chiefs have had plenty of trophyless seasons over the course of the years since their inception, but only on two occasions – in 1995 1996 and 2011 2012, – have they gone two whole years without winning something. That was until last season when 2016 2017 joined the list.
Now, having last picked up a trophy at the end of the 2014/15 season, Steve Komphela's side are one cup defeat away from making the wrong sort of history at Naturena, something that the head coach and players will be very eager to avoid.
