Deane: I’d Love To Get Chiefs…

With Kaizer Chiefs set to begin their Nedbank Cup campaign, a coach who has a team participating in the tournament has explained why he is hoping to face Amakhosi in the competition.

Amakhosi will visit Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday evening in one of the all-topflight clashes in this year's Last 32 round of the competition.

While the task at hand for Arthur Zwane's charges will be to get past the Team of Choice to keep their chances of winning a trophy this season alive, Clarewood JPM FC from the Western Cape is hoping to be drawn against the Soweto giants at some stage, should they proceed in the competition.

Clarewood will face fellow ABC Motsepe League side Mpheni Home Defenders in their Last 32 match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

The Cape side's newly appointed coach Dylan Deane says playing against Chiefs would be a great experience for some of his players.

"I think for me, I want Kaizer Chiefs, to be honest with you. I think also being a student of this game, I started watching football at a very young age, being a Kaizer Chiefs supporter myself all these times," said Deane.

"I looked up to all those players and the coaches they had. Shane McGregor, Rudolf Seale, Ntsie Maphike, Samora Khulu, Teenage Dladla… and those players, (are the reason for the way) I look at football and the passion it brings to me and to my players. It creates a good feel in and around our club when I talk to them about the past and how we could play football and how football should be played, in my idea. So, yeah, I'd actually love to get Kaizer Chiefs to be honest with you," the coach said.
