It was Xulu's first official appearance for Kaizer Chiefs, the club he was a junior at, before absconding to join Mamelodi Sundowns as a teenager.
Xulu returned to Chiefs last month after three years in Russia with FC Rostov.
It was Xulu's first official goal in over four years, having last scored in a PSL game against Ajax Cape Town in April 2011, whilst still a Sundowns player.
Xulu had an eventful debut in the 5-3 win over Maritzburg United - it didn't start well as he was part of a defence that conceded two first half goals, and he headed into his own net to bring Maritzburg back level at 3-3 after Chiefs had fought back brilliantly to lead 3-2.
However he scored the all important goal that gave Chiefs the lead, before Henrick Ekstein wrapped up the result which sees Chiefs into the MTN8 semi-finals.
Xulu also picked up a yellow card for his celebration of his goal.
