Orlando Pirates assistant coach Tebogo Moloi has slammed his players finishing in front of goal following his side's 1-0 loss to Ajax Cape Town in an MTN8 quarterfinal match on Tuesday night.
The Buccaneers had the majority of possession the more efforts on goal on the night, but poor finishing and a single goal from Ndiviwe Mdabuka saw the Soweto side exit the top eight competition.
Moloi was on the bench for the night as Eric Tinkler was suspended for the tie and sitting in the stands.
"If you can't take the chances that you create you will get a result like this," said Moloi after the game.
"We can't say we lost because we missed certain players. Irrespective of the personnel, we had enough chances to win it.
"It is disappointing that we lost. Some people are happy we knocked the ball around showed good signs, but the result is what matters.
"We play everything to win everything. We want to compete do it well."
Ajax also saw their head coach, Roger de Sa, sitting in the stands due to suspension, but his stand-in and assistant coach Ian Taylor said his side were hungrier on the night.
"We were hungrier on the night it showed in our play," said Taylor.
"In the first half we were lethargic, the movement was not great, but I was impressed with in the second half. We stepped up and got the goal."
Taylor defended his tactics to defend for the last twenty minutes because he was worried his team would run out of gas.
"I was a bit worried about our fitness. We didn't come here to defend deep. We defended deep because our legs gave in. It was the situation, but the guys showed guts and held on," concluded Taylor.
