MTN8 Quarterfinal Mandla Ncikazi Reaction, Kaizer Chiefs V Maritzburg United, 05 August 2015

Maritzburg United coach Mandla Ncikazi says he finds it hard to be proud of his team after they conceded five goals against Kaizer Chiefs in a MTN8 quarterfinal match on Wednesday night.

The Team of Choice took a two goal lead into the half time break before seeing regulation time end 3-3, only to lose 5-3 after extra time.

Speaking after the match Ncikazi said he was disappointed in his team's defensive showing, but saw some positives in their attacking play.

"It was a good game for supporters and spectators, but not a very good game for a coach," said Ncikazi.

"If you concede five goals you can't be proud

"I thought at one point we had the match in our hands, but we let it go.

"Maybe it was experience, conceding three goals in 15 minutes was too much, but I understand as it is the first match of the season and I am also new on this platform, but I think we can improve from here.

"There were a lot of positives from the match – the fact that we scored three goals is good because last season it was a challenge and we were not a big scoring team.

"The disappointing part is that we are a very good defensive team, but today we conceded five goals.

"Chiefs played well, they showed their experience and I wish them luck."
