Maritzburg United head coach, Mandla Ncikazi, says that he knows he has big shoes to fill after taking over from Steve Komphela, but has faith in himself.
Komphela guided the Team of Choice to their highest league finish last season as they secured a place in the top eight, however he then left the club to take over the coaching position at Kaizer Chiefs.
Now, as the new Maritzburg mentor looks to get off to a good start in next week's MTN8 tournament, he says that he has taken confidence from the support of his players and management.
Ncikazi joked, "Steve Komphela wears a size 13 and I wear a size nine! Can you imagine the difference?"
However he did go on to say that he is confident in himself and his team, saying, "It's a big challenge for me because I'm following such a professional coach and humble person, such a diligent and hard-working human being, now I have to fill in his shoes.
"I don't have any doubt of my own capacity, I'm working with a very good technical team and have players giving me full support. Management are supporting me and trying to give us the players we require. I'm highly confident that the team will be very competitive."
