Amakhosi midfielder, Mandla Masango, says he's happy to be in contention for a starting place in this weekend's MTN8 final Soweto Derby, but insists that it's not all about him.
The 25-year-old midfield man has been in fine form so far this season, creating and scoring goals for Kaizer Chiefs, as he claimed the Absa Premiership Player of the Month award for August.
As they prepare for Saturday's crunch game in Durban, the in-form winger says that the game against University of Pretoria, which they won 2-1, served as a wake up call.
Masango said, "It feels good (to be in contention for a starting place), but it's not all about Mandla, it's about the team. Whoever gets the nod to start will be good for the team and that person will work hard for the benefit of everyone.
"I think the Tuks game was a wake up call. In football you should never take anything for granted, as you never know what might happen tomorrow. You have to give your best to the task at hand."
Also, speaking of the 2011 MTN8 final loss to Pirates, Masango said, "It's a new chapter, that one has been closed. Football isn't based on previous performances, it's based on the future."
Finally, when asked about the return of Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala, 'Bullet' said, "I think it's good for the team going forward, there's competition for places here and I think that can only improve us as a team."

Having started the Tuks game on the bench, Stuart Baxter may opt to restore Masango to his starting XI against Pirates after giving him a bit of a break.
